Why this directory exists

I'm a tattoo artist, and I work in Ozone Park, Queens. When people ask me where to go for a style I don't do, or a shop near where they live, I never had one good place to send them. Most lists of New York shops are ten names long, paid for, or years out of date. This city has hundreds of shops, and the right one for your piece might be two neighborhoods over.

So I built the list I wanted to send people to. Every tattoo shop in the five boroughs that is open and reviewed is here, sorted by the neighborhood it is in, with the styles and services each shop names in its own words. Nothing is guessed: if a shop doesn't say it, the listing says so.

My own shop is listed exactly like everyone else's, with no special placement. Shops can pay to be featured, and those spots are always marked. If you run a shop and something is wrong, claim your listing or get in touch and I'll fix it.

How listings are vetted

Every listing starts as a public Google business record in one of three categories: tattoo shop, tattoo artist, or tattoo and piercing shop. A shop stays when it has at least one review and its record was updated in the last year, which removes most of the shops that have closed. Duplicates are merged.

Then each shop's own website is read for what it does: the styles it names, whether it takes walk-ins or works by appointment, custom work, flash, cover-ups and piercing. A style shows on a listing only when the shop names it. Salons, brow studios and permanent make-up clinics that do no body tattooing were removed.

Right now that is 565 tattoo shops in 129 New York City neighborhoods, last refreshed 2026-10-03.

Owners can claim their listing for free. Every claim is checked by a person: a real local business, a matching email domain or a call to the number on the Google listing. Paid placements are marked as featured, premium or best-of wherever they appear.
